how do they know?

how is it that a two year old that has never experienced the goodness of teddy grahams, can run down the isle at the store and come to a screeching halt at the teddy grahams and just know how great they are?

awkward

picture yourself in Petersons (or any grocery store) sitting in the deli, enjoying lunch and a small conversation when your 2 year old walks over to you with his diaper in his hand. got a good picture? now you know how my lunch went :) and i will NEVER buy luvs again. they are the worst diapers ever. EVER! oh and no poop was involved in this story, thank heavens.

he's no longer a baby

Well, I figured that it may be time to get a post out there. It has been a little over a month and it has seemed to fly right by.

Wyatt will be 2 on Sunday, and it doesn't quite seem real. He is getting so big and is quite the handsome little boy. I love just watching him, he amazes me and I am so grateful for him.

What's going on in Wyatt's little life:
  • He no longer listens to mom. I'm not sure I can blame him either, sometimes I get sick of my own voice. This picture is a great example of that.
  • *3 words... Trains, Trains, Trains. K I know that's only 1 word, but he is THAT obsessed.
  • He knows his alphabet and some of the sounds the letters make. I am the only one to witness it so far, but it's no lie.
  • Bedtime no longer seems to be an option with him and it about pushes me over the edge.
  • This boy has rhythm. I love watching him dance.
  • He loves his cousins.
  • He licks me because he thinks it's funny, and I have NO idea where he learned this. Probably from Kristen.
  • He has major attitude, don't ask me where that came from :)
  • He can sign quite a few signs but now that he talks more they have taken a back seat. Except please and thank you, he still uses those over saying them.
  • He loves when we get company, which doesn't happen often, but he gets really excited.
  • He apparently knows how to say sucker. I just found that out this second when he brought me one for him to open.
There is so much that I love about wy, but it would take forever to list everything. He is a great kid! I'm really blessed.
We get to go on a little vacay this weekend. The Warners are kind enough to let us go down to their house in Glenwood and just relax and play. I'm really excited and we are going to have a little birthday party for Wyatt while we are down there.

Work is going really well. I have the best job and boss ever. She takes good care of me and especially Wyatt. And we're busy, so that is also nice! We started taking pilates together and it is my most favorite thing ever. I think that EVERYONE should take pilates and I will probably bug you about it until you do. It's that great.

And this is our life, not much but somehow we stay busy. Gotta love it.

our life

lately i feel like there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done! wyatt got his staples out on saturday and it was rather quick and he only said "ow" really quietly. easy enough! and he loved the fish tank in the waiting area and that's all he could really focus on, that and the suckers.

my family has been cleaning out my grandma's house and that took up most of the weekend, which is fine. she moved into a senior center and now her house just sits empty. it's been harder than i thought and it has really hit me that my grandma won't be around forever. i haven't experienced a lot of death in my life, so it's hard for me to think about. especially for my close friends and family.

wyatt all last week was such a stinker, nap time and bedtime were pretty much just hell. that is the best way for me to describe it. after discussions with my family, i decided to stick with a strict bedtime routine and just like magic our problem is fixed. instead of 4 hours of screaming a night (from wyatt not me) he gets right in bed and doesn't even attempt to climb out. he just goes to sleep like he always has before if not better. we start out with a bath, jammies on, tv and most lights off, books on mommy's bed, i tell him what we'll be doing the next day, prayers, and then into bed. it's wonderful! thanks for everyone's input and help.

everything else has been going pretty well and there is nothing really to complain about. i just need to say thanks to andrea who has been my life saver lately. she has been more than willing to help me out with wyatt twice a week and it makes a world of difference. so thank you! i can't say it enough.

metal head

so, wyatt almost made it to his second birthday before having some major trauma. it all started wednesday evening around 6:30 when my crazy kid was running and playing around being the boy that he is when he fell off the couch backwards and hit his head on the corner of the coffee table. i immediately picked him up and he was doing that one cry where they stop breathing (i hate that). i had my hand on his head and when i moved it i had a handful of blood and i think i stopped breathing. thankfully i suck at folding my laundry and had a basket of clean laundry right there, i grabbed a towel and found my phone to call my mom. i stayed rather calm even though i wanted to burst into tears. i called my mom and as calm as possible to not freak her out said "wyatt hit his head, he's bleeding, please come over" which she couldn't hear over his screaming. after being able to communicate to her what was going on, she and amy came over. i got wyatt out of his bloody shirt and into some pajamas and we headed off to the instacare. i won't go into details of the visit because it was horrid. he cried, i cried, it was just not fun. and now he has 4 staples in his head! i'm not sure why they used staples opposed to stitches, i'm assuming because of where it is? anyway.. here are his knarly staples...

we went back into the instacare this evening to have them looked out, the doctor said that it is healing great and has already come together. just no swimming for us.. guess i'll have to cancel all our huge pool plans! damn. he gets to have them taken out next friday or saturday, the doctor said it didn't really matter. hopefully we don't have to do this again, it was no fun!

two posts in a day.. ya'll are so lucky!

i love little boys and i love this warmer weather. wyatt loves playing "side" on the patio with his bike and cars. he says hi to everyone that walks by and he gets SO dirty! after he had been playing outside we ran to the store to pick up a few things and the lady in the check out line looked at wyatt and said "boy you must have had a fun day!". his face is covered in dirt and so are his clothes. he loves being outside and i love me a little giggly boy covered in dirt!
