metal head

so, wyatt almost made it to his second birthday before having some major trauma. it all started wednesday evening around 6:30 when my crazy kid was running and playing around being the boy that he is when he fell off the couch backwards and hit his head on the corner of the coffee table. i immediately picked him up and he was doing that one cry where they stop breathing (i hate that). i had my hand on his head and when i moved it i had a handful of blood and i think i stopped breathing. thankfully i suck at folding my laundry and had a basket of clean laundry right there, i grabbed a towel and found my phone to call my mom. i stayed rather calm even though i wanted to burst into tears. i called my mom and as calm as possible to not freak her out said "wyatt hit his head, he's bleeding, please come over" which she couldn't hear over his screaming. after being able to communicate to her what was going on, she and amy came over. i got wyatt out of his bloody shirt and into some pajamas and we headed off to the instacare. i won't go into details of the visit because it was horrid. he cried, i cried, it was just not fun. and now he has 4 staples in his head! i'm not sure why they used staples opposed to stitches, i'm assuming because of where it is? anyway.. here are his knarly staples...

we went back into the instacare this evening to have them looked out, the doctor said that it is healing great and has already come together. just no swimming for us.. guess i'll have to cancel all our huge pool plans! damn. he gets to have them taken out next friday or saturday, the doctor said it didn't really matter. hopefully we don't have to do this again, it was no fun!

  1. Poor Wyatt...and poor mom! I remember the first time Anistyn got stitches (right before she turned 1). It was more traumatic for me than for her! Glad he's ok.
