Sweet Child of Mine

(This picture was on his actual birthday)

This amazing boy of mine has turned 5... July 12th to be exact, I'm just a few months late.
When they say time goes so quickly, they weren't lying! Wyatt has such a kind heart and loves everyone. He makes friends so easily and is constantly on the go. And have I mentioned he has amazing hair? I could go on and on about how much I love him and am so grateful for him in my life, but I'll keep it to a minimum for now. But really, he's so great. *tears*

Just a few things Wyatt loves:
:Legos:
He reads the instructions and rarely needs my help. He loves to talk me into going to Target just to look at them knowing that I will just give in and buy him a small set. Smart kid. I'm a sucker.  This is him pouting just yesterday because I didn't fall for the "can we go to Target and look" trick.

:The Avengers:
We went and saw the movie twice and he keeps asking to see it again. It is his favorite!

:Grandma's House:
The past few months my mom and sister Kate have been watching Wyatt while I work, he loves this time over there and being with his cousins. Last week I drove right past their street in a daze forgetting to drop Wyatt off. I started laughing and told him he had to come to work with me, he didn't find it all that funny and started to cry.

:Swimming:
This kid is a champ in the pool and loves to swim and is pretty good at it too! We have spent most of the summer at the pool. I'm hoping one day he will be the new Michael Phelps... Minus the whole marijuana thing :)

:School:
Wyatt started Kindergarten and loves every minute of it. He would go on the weekends if that was possible. He has an amazing teacher and I think he might have a small crush! During parent teacher conference I was told that he is the perfect student. He is quiet in class and she never has to ask him twice to do anything. He does great in math and is catching on to the reading. I'm so happy his transition into school was smooth. I was worried that since he didn't go to preschool or ever set foot in a day care he might struggle a bit. But that wasn't an issue, because let's face it, my child is perfect.

:Family:
Wyatt loves our family and his cousins. I'm so glad we are all close and that all the kids have great friendships.

 Charlotte, Wyatt and Tori
Wyatt, Ken and Ivy

Also Included in our family is Fini, our family dog. She has been bounced between my house and my moms. Wyatt loves having her around. The last time I brought her back Wyatt said "Mom I'm so proud to have Fini at our house".

Happy Birthday, Wyatt. You are extremely loved!

"I want to celebrate and live my life..."

Lately I have been really busy and half the time feel like I'm just barely hanging in there. Monday night Wyatt and I were driving home from what seemed to be the longest day of my life and I just wanted to be home. Pretty safe to say I was ornery. While flipping through the radio stations one of Wyatt's favorite songs came on, Dynamite by Taio Cruz. Immediately from the back seat I am being told to turn it up and roll down my window and really, who can argue with that? I crank it up and listen to Wyatt sing loudly from the back seat "I want to celebrate and live my life, saying ay oh baby let go", not a care in the world. I'm not going to lie, I had a moment. What a perfect ending to my crazy day. Love that kid.

be grateful

This child of mine will be 5 years old in about a month and eight days. Whoa. Where have those five years gone?

Wyatt and I have a nightly ritual and in all honesty I think it helps me probably more than him. Maybe. I'm sure or hope he will look back and remember. Every night we climb into his bed and talk about our favorite things that happened that day followed by a "heavenly father" aka prayer. It definitely helps me to realize in this busy crazy life of mine there is still a lot to be grateful for.

Wyatt is such a sweet kid. I'm a lucky mom and very blessed to have him be a part of my life at this exact moment. Definitely one thing I will never take for granted. Love him.

Monsters, Green Monsters

These monsters don't live under your bed or in your closet. I'm not really sure why they are called monsters, but they are. Maybe to some people they are terrifying.

They are all the rage and I'm pretty sure there are a million blogs, books, articles and whatnots about these little monsters.

For the past week I have been thinking that I need to give them a try. My diet is probably horrendous and this is a definite step in the right direction. I have a hard time eating breakfast in the morning as well and this seems like an easy solution to my problem. Today while I was with one of my sisters she mentioned wanting to give them a try and it went from there. I bought a few ingredients to try out, she sent me some information and that was that. I made mine not to long ago for the morning and it is super good. The color is questionable and isn't as beautiful as the one pictured above, but it will do.

I used spinach, 1 banana, handful organic frozen strawberries, handful organic frozen raspberries and chia seeds.

And here is how I put it all together. (It's definitely NOT brain surgery)

8 - 10 oz water
2 handfuls spinach
1/4 tsp chia seeds (These are a personal preference)

Blend well together.
I then added the banana, blended, then the frozen berries.
If you use fresh berries you will need to use ice.

And that's it! Super easy.

There are some great recipes that I will be trying out. This one seems to be pretty standard. They say you can add sweeteners like Stevia or agave nectar but I think it is plenty sweet without.

I'm excited to see how it impacts my over all health and now maybe all my work outs will start actually showing.

Give em a try and let me know what you think!

Painting Phase 1 Complete

Yesterday I sucked it up and decided to go for it and it didn't take me nearly as long as I thought it would. I love the results! I actually am contemplating painting the ceiling gray as well... someone will have to tell me if that's a good or bad idea.

The next two steps are the baseboards and then the molding around the room to separate the blue and gray. Which should be fun. Just need to find a miter saw and nail gun; which I think I've already done.

Wyatt liked it yesterday and this morning told me he wants to paint his room with red and black stripes. Hopefully he starts to like it again!

Wyatt's Room Update

I have picked the colors for Wyatt's room with a little help from my sister, Andrea. After I picked them out I realized that the colors are already in Wyatt's bedding. So, it must be fate. And thanks to Sherwin Williams and their 40% off sale, I should have all I need. I hope. The colors are also a little brighter than they show below (minus the gray). Can't wait to see how it turns out.

1. Revel Blue (SW6530). This will be his main wall color up to 7ft on the wall.
2. Sundance (SW6897). This will be an accent color. Probably a few picture frames.
3. Light French Gray (SW0055). This will be the second wall color from 7ft up.
4. Organic Green (SW6732). This will also serve as an accent color. I am going to check out DI to see if I can find a new dresser that I can spruce up. His current dresser is about 36 years old and has just about seen it's last day.

Easter and TBall and Instagram, Oh my!

Remember when all the iPhone users started using instagram and it was instagram this and instagram that? Well, now I know why because it's available for droid (As if you didn't already know that). It's fun and I have been sucked in.

Today Kate and I played leap frog with the watching of kids. It was fun to have Tori over and I was able to get quite a bit of work done while they were doing their thing. I snapped a few photos because they are cute and really because I wanted to use instagram.

We also had Easter. Kate's neighbor had a fun Easter egg hunt on Saturday for friends and family and we (aka Wyatt) were lucky enough to be invited over. They had pancakes, eggs, and fruit for everyone and the hunt for the kids was a blast and the weather was beautiful. On Sunday we had a low key day, dinner with most of the family and then just hung out like we do.

Kate snapped this photo of W. I love it.

Hanging out eating their candy.

When did they grow up?

Love.

W had his first Tball game on Monday, it was crazy. Today seemed to go a little smoother and they are catching on. I quickly found out that Tball is as much for the parents as it is for the players. Everyone participates! I found I like being at 1st base when our team is up to bat. It's funny trying to guide them to the plate. We also had team pictures, so it will be fun to see those.

That's pretty much all I have for today. It has been a long crazy week and I should probably rest up for the madness that will be Thursday. Ciao

T.Ball Time

I've always been excited for the time when Wyatt could start playing sports, and that time has come. I signed him up to play Tball with his buddy, Jasek. Wyatt is so excited and hasn't taken his jersey shirt off since we got it. Which seems kind of gross now... maybe I should do something about that? He is such a great kid and I'm glad he will get this fun opportunity. His first game is on Monday when we play the Diamondbacks!

In his new shirt & hat. Go Brewers!

Wild hair. Time to remodel!

I don't know about any of you, but I can only search through pinterest and endless blogs before I want to start a project.

Not really knowing where to start and being on a budget I have decided to put a few dream boards together.

A few months back I decided to switch the theme in Wyatt's room from cowboy to sports. And aside from his bedding, it's all still pretty much cowboy. So I started to look for some ideas and remembered seeing a boys bedroom I really loved. (found here)

I love the idea of this room and am using it as my inspiration. Today I went over to home depot, found two great colors and priced out the mdf boards that will be going around the room. Both these colors on the swatches are a lot darker than they look below. I will probably run over to Sherwin Williams and check out their blues and see if there is anything I like more. But for now, it is between these two.

December Eve

Midnight Dream

After showing my sister Kate, she thought it would be cool to have the blue and then a light grey above the boards, which I completely agree.

I also found a super cheap and easy tutorial to update the baseboards in his room, here.

So, there we go. I'm excited to be able to get started and show the progress. Hopefully it turns out as cute as I am picturing it in my head!

missing in action

As some of you have noticed it has been quite a while since I have last updated. Life has been anything but boring.

In the end of November I started a second job as an Office Manager for a Doctor. He is just getting his practice going and so far it's worked out perfectly. I am able to work from home minus a few early morning meetings and an errand here and there. Kate has helped me tremendously with Wyatt taking him whenever she can so that I can run to a meeting or just get some work done at home. She has been my life saver!

The beginning of December was when my world was shaken up a bit. Something I knew deep down would eventually happen, did. My sweet aunt Robyn passed away on December 7th. I always thought of my family as invincible as silly as that sounds. I'm not sure if lucky is the word to use, but we all were fortunate enough to be with Robyn hours before she passed away. Just thinking of that morning makes me cry and a time I will ever forget. Robyn was Robyn and hard to put into words. She was one of those constants in life and it will not be the same without her.

This picture is of my Aunt Lisa showing Robyn a picture of herself (The first one above). She smiled and grabbed the picture and said "That's me". I think Robyn in the picture was around 16. It was such a sweet moment, at that point Robyn wasn't really talking.

And with the passing of Robyn I then braced myself for the passing of my Grandma which only happened a short 65 (give or take) days later. My Grandma passed away on February 10th. I never thought my Grandma would die. Call it wishful thinking. She was an amazing woman always smiling and laughing. I loved being in her presence and always felt so safe and happy. She was the calm during the storm and saying that I miss her is an understatement.

This is my Grandma and niece Victoria about 3 years ago.

So, that has been life these last few months. Busy, heartbreaking, a little stressful but still plugging along.

Wyatt is growing like a weed! He is so tall and handsome and such a patient kid. I drag him all over the place while we are working and he just goes with it. I can't wait to tell him that this fall we are going to DISNEYLAND! I probably won't tell him until the night before just to make my life a little bit easier. I haven't been since I was 4 and don't remember much, so it will be like a first time for both of us. I can't wait!
